SUMMER SKATING SKILLS

Prepare for 6 weeks of exciting, structured figure skating training designed to help skaters grow their skills, confidence, and love for the sport. This comprehensive summer program offers training opportunities for skaters from Basic 5 through Senior levels, providing a balanced mix of on-ice and off-ice instruction that supports long-term athlete development.  Each week will include a combination of on-ice technical instruction and off-ice classes designed to build strength, flexibility, coordination, and athletic awareness. Skaters will rotate through focused training sessions that may include jump technique, spin development, skating skills, choreography, conditioning, and mental training.  In addition, parent classes will be available, offering a fun and welcoming opportunity for parents to gain a deeper understanding of their skater’s development.

Two program levels are available to best support skaters at different stages of their progression:

Aspire Intro Program (Basic 5 – Aspire 2)
Designed for skaters who are beginning to move beyond the basic skills levels and are ready for more structured training. The Aspire Intro Program is endorsed by the Winter Club of Indianapolis, offering skaters a strong developmental pathway.

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: On-ice small group class 4:00-4:30pm, Off-Ice Class: 6:00-6:30pm.

Full Summer Training Program (Aspire 3 – Senior)
This program is designed for skaters ready for a more comprehensive training schedule that supports higher-level skill development and competitive preparation.

  • Tuesdays, 4:00-4:30pm Small Group On-ice Class, 6:00-6:30pm Off-Ice Jumps
  • Wednesdays, 4:00-4:30pm Power Class, 6:00-6:30pm Off-Ice Strength
  • Thursdays, 4:00-4:30pm Small Group On-ice Class, 6:00-6:30pm Off-ice (rotating activities)

To accommodate different summer schedules, several flexible enrollment options are available:

  • Full Program:  6 weeks (June 2 - July 9)
  • Pick Four:  Choose any 4 weeks that fit your schedule
  • Single Week:  Registration required the week prior

**The summer skating program is designed to allow skaters to take advantage of certain Pop Weaver Freestyle sessions at an additional cost while participating in structured classes that complement their independent training.  Program participants can pre-purchase Freestyle sessions during registration for priority access, or may pay at the rink upon arrival if space is available.

Figure Skating Boot Camp

Our Summer Boot Camp is an intensive three-day training experience designed for skaters who want to challenge themselves and make significant progress in a short period of time.

Our guest instructor, Douglas Haw, has coached athletes from the grassroots to the Jr. World, World and Olympic level in both Canada and the United States. He is a USFS Master Coach in three disciplines, and the only coach in North America to have the highest certification in TWO countries. He was the professional coach to World Champions Brian Orser (1990-2002) and to Kurt Browning (2010-2013). He was the Director of Skating at the Haw Training Center (1986-89), Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club (1990-2001), Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club (2001-2004) and the Granite Club of Toronto (2009-2013).

Each day will include three hours of on-ice instruction, along with structured off-ice classes focused on strength, jump technique, agility, dance, and conditioning. Skaters will participate in a variety of focused training sessions that emphasize technical development, efficiency of movement, and competitive mindset.

Boot Camp is designed to push skaters outside their comfort zones while providing the coaching support and encouragement needed to reach new levels of performance. This high-energy training environment encourages athletes to work hard, learn from one another, and gain confidence in their abilities.
